LKA Team

Find your passion and follow it

Lewis Kennedy Associates was founded by Jim Lewis and Helen Kennedy. Now a team of dedicated professionals, LKA assists organizations of all sizes, helping them build support and membership that will carry them forward for years to come. We found our passion many years ago and we’re still following it today.

Helen Kennedy, Partner

Helen Kennedy, CFRE, has over 25 years of fundraising experience at every level. She excels at using strategic analysis and business insight to develop integrated campaigns that succeed. Helen is known as a hard-working advocate for nonprofit clients, ever since her first job in community radio.

Today, Helen is considered a leading expert in nonprofit campaign development. Her passion for her work is as strong as ever. Helen has an MBA from UCLA and is a frequent speaker at national and regional fundraising conferences.

Jim Lewis, Partner

Before he co-founded LKA, Jim Lewis, CFRE, worked extensively in commercial and public broadcasting for some of the leading stations in the U.S. He has been a development director, general manager, news director, anchor and president of a support organization.

Jim got into fundraising through his journalism training. He was the fastest writer in the station and was asked to write grant applications. Thirty years later, he is in demand for his perspective as a CEO who returned to the work he preferred – fund development. He’s still writing too (now on a laptop instead of a typewriter).

Jim holds a BA from the University of Massachusetts and attended the Executive Management Program in Public Telecommunications.

She learned from the ground up, working for the two largest membership nonprofits in Oregon – The Oregon Zoo and Oregon Public Broadcasting.

Nova finds gaps in any fundraising program and develops the initiatives and integration that raises a program to the next level.

Nova moved to Portland many years ago determined to find a job she would love. She found it with the Friends of the Zoo and has loved her work ever since. Nova’s personal passion is wildlife preservation and the conservation of wild spaces.
